Blending sponges are all the rage for applying makeup and are supposed to help give you that flawless celebrity look. I decided to compare 3 different ones that I have found. This review is a combination of both drug store and high end products.

Sponge Blenders

The one on the left is from Ulta, the Beauty Blender in the center, and on the left is a sponge from CVS.

Let’s start with the Ulta Super Blender Sponge which is affordable at $4.99. It is pretty soft, but not as soft and squishy as the Beautyblender (below.) I don’t hate this sponge, it does an acceptable job with foundation application. However, after using it the first time I noticed that my hands smelled like latex.

The Beautyblender was the first product of this kind. It is $19.95 for 1 or $28.95 for 2. “This non-latex product is hypoallergenic and can last up to three-four months if cared for properly.” Beautyblender is super soft and can be used for concealer, liquid foundation, powder, and more. This is a great sponge that always gets rave reviews.

The final sponge I tried, I purchased from CVS. I want to say it was less than $5. This sponge is pretty awful. As you can see, it has a different shape than the other 2 which makes it slightly awkward to use. My main issue with this sponge is that it’s hard. A sponge that I’m using on my face should be soft.

Beauty Blender

So in the land of blending sponges, the “high-end” beautyblender is the winner. You definitely need to get the cleanser with is if you want to make it last four months. Mine is actually getting tossed now that I took photos of it.

New Beauty Blender

This is what a beauty blender looks like when brand new. If you’re one of those strange people that hates the color pink. Beautyblender also offers ‘Pure’ that is white and ‘Pro’ that is black. You can purchase them through Sephora.
