Thanks to Instagram, I found out that e.l.f. cosmetics had released a Disney Ariel Collection and… my Walgreens had most of the items! Typically, I test beauty products for awhile before I review them, but I bought these on Friday and am just so excited to share this collection with you!
If you missed out on the Ariel collection Sephora had awhile back, *sigh* then you won’t want to miss this incredibly affordable collection. Items that I didn’t purchase (yet!) include makeup bags, false eye lashes, makeup brushes, and headbands.
I adore this collection’s packaging and the pastel color scheme! The black and white Ariel is an interesting change from Disney’s original Ariel with bright red, purple, and green. I also love that many items say ‘Ariel’ or ‘A’ on them. My name is Adrienne and having pink ‘A’ lip glosses is pretty sweet.
First, let’s get into what is likely going to be the most sought after item in this collection, the Treasure Within Beauty Book which includes 9 eyeshadow colors, an eyeshadow brush, 2 bronzers, a small bronzer brush, and a lip color (plus shell mirror) for only $9.99!
This beauty book even comes with a step-by-step guide for 2 different fairytale mermaid looks: “On The Beach” and “Sunset Cruise.”
The 9 eyeshadows come in a nice variety of shades. From left to right: Sand Dollar, Coral Reef, Tropical Wave, North Star, For Shore, Siren Song, Seaweed, Seashell, and Brilliant Sea.
I really love the first 5 colors in Treasure Within. Sand Dollar is perfect for a highlight. Coral Reef and Tropical Wave are great for creating a colorful mermaid look without being too bright. North Star and For Shore can be used to achieve a bronzed look.
The next four shades are on the bolder side and have less of a shimmer finish. Personally, I love orange tones so I’m all about Siren Song. Seaweed and Seashell are true Ariel colors. However, Seashell is a disappointing purple. It applies like a matte and only has okay pigmentation over a white base. Lastly, I think Brilliant Sea is great as more of a liner color than an eyeshadow.
The two bronzers in this book are Conch Shell (left) and Tan Lines (right.) Tan Lines is lighter and works better for my fair skin, but I can use the darker bronzer sparingly or for contouring. The mini brush that comes with these is too small for my liking and seems pretty useless. I’ve also included a swatch of the lip color which just says “pink” on it’s label.
As if two bronzers weren’t enough, I bought the $4.99 Bronzed Beauty set too. I couldn’t resist the design of this!
This speckled bronzer is called Surf’s Up and it comes with a more useful small kabuki brush. I’d say this shade is kind of in between the other two and has more shimmer to it.
The Go On and Kiss the Girl set, also $4.99, consists of a lip stain, Pink Petal, and two Super Glossy Lip Shines. The sheer pink, is Sunrise and the shimmery fuchsia is Sunset. I actually like the smell of the glosses despite it being a fake candy type scent.
The final set I purchased was also affordable at $4.99. It’s the Under the Sea Eyes set which contains 2 duo eyeshadows and a black Waterproof Eyeliner Pen. For the price, this eyeliner is pretty great. You can draw a super thin line and it’s fairly water resistant.
High Tide is a gold and blue set that reminds me of sand and ocean water. Both shadows go on smoothly and have decent pigmentation.
The other set called Coral Reef contains another golden shade that is more on the brown side and a shimmery mauve color. These shadows actually look prettier in person.
Overall, I love this collection! Great packaging, good quality for the price, and ARIEL! Run to your local Walgreens now before these goodies sell out or place an order for these sets on their website.
