My friend texted me this week asking if I had received my Birchbox yet because hers was the best one so far this year. Mine didn’t come for a few days later and contained different products. While hers was better this month, I felt mine was better last month.

October’s theme is Beauty Buzz, celeb favorites, up-and-comers, and other products they’re obsessed with at Birchbox Headquarters.

While I prefer to choose my own shampoo and conditioner I’m not against trying new ones, so I guess I’ll use these samples from Beauty Protector. I was kind of bummed that  these count as 2 samples because shampoo and conditioner go together. I feel like I got fewer samples this box than I normally do.

I think little packet samples like these ones from Dr. Brandt are always a bummer. These are what department stores and Sephora stores give for free. If I’m paying for a Birchbox, I want deluxe samples not one time use samples. My Birchbox card also says my sample is Evologie Stay Clear Cream which this is not.

Stainiac from theBalm cosmetics was the highlight of the October Birchbox. I got the shade Beauty Queen.

This product is like a gel but blends into skin nicely. It’s not super pigmented but it leaves enough color on the skin. It can be used on lips or cheeks. I think I’ll empty this sample pretty quickly.

A cute Birchbox zip bag held the extra this month.

The extra was Chap Sick Hydration Lock in Vanilla Creme. With winter on the way, I can definitely use this or give it to my son. A $1 off coupon for another one was also included. So this month wasn’t a total dud, but last month’s box was much better for me.
