Battle of the Setting Sprays

Setting Spray Battle

It's summer, you're hot and you don't want to have a makeup meltdown, what do you do? Use a setting spray! This is a review of three setting sprays that I have used and I will select one winner.

Since it’s summer and the temperatures have been hitting triple digits, I thought it would be a good time to review three different setting sprays that I have.

First, I have to point out that this is just my personal opinion. Not everybody has the same skin type or uses the same makeup, therefore your results may vary. All of these products were purchased with my own money.

The three setting sprays I will compare/contrast are Urban Decay All Nighter, Make Up For Ever Mist & Fix, and My Beauty Addiction Mineral Setting Spray.

URBAN DECAY ALL NIGHTER

I have the “to go” size of this spray, but it also comes in full-size.

Price: .34 oz. – $11, 4 oz. – $29.

Ingredients: Aqua (Water), SD-Alcohol 39-C, Polyhydroxystearic Acid, Isononyl Isononanoate Ethylhexyl Isononanoate, Sodium Cocamidopropyl PG-Dimonium Chloride Phosphate PVP, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Methyl Diisopropyl Propionamide, Dimethicone PEG-7 Phosphate, PPG-3 Benzyl Ether Myristate, Gluconolactone, Sodium Benzoate, Glycereth-5 Lactate, Methyl Methacrylate Cross Polymer, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Fragrance.

My Thoughts: I think $29 is a lot to pay for a setting spray, especially this one. This spray did pretty much nothing for me. I didn’t really notice that my makeup stayed any longer than it normally does. This can be purchased at Ulta, Sephora, or online.

MUFE MIST & FIX

This is also another sample size spray that I got from sephora.com.

Price: .84 oz. -$8, 4.22 oz.- $27.

Ingredients: Aqua (Water) Methyl Propanediol, AMP-Acrylates/Allyl Methacrylate Copolymer, Phenoxyethanol, Disodium EDTA, Sodium Methylparaben, Chlorphenesin, Parfum (Fragrance), Chitosan Succinamide, Hexyl Cinnamal, Citronellol, Geraniol Butylphenyl Methylpropional.

My Thoughts: The Sephora website states that this spray “sets all types of makeup and prolongs hold, even under extreme conditions.” To me this spray is definitely useful for the “fix” part, but doesn’t prolong hold THAT well. This is good for if you need to fix or touch up your makeup. You can spray this on and dab some makeup off and then reapply some powder. With this spray you get a little more for your money, compared to UD All Nighter. I also like that this allows you to fix your makeup, which All Nighter doesn’t. This can be purchased from Sephora.

MY BEAUTY ADDICTION MINERAL SETTING SPRAY

Price: 2 oz. – $5.

Ingredients: Camellia sinensis (White Tea) Extract, Camellia sinensis (Organic Green Tea) Extract, Phenoxythenol, Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM), Dimethlaminoethanol (DMAE Bitartrate), Sodium Hyaluronate Acid, Tetrasodium EDTA, Citric Acid.

My Thoughts: I like buying from indie companies, because it’s more personal. You are helping a small business, you’re helping a family have income, not giving more money to a company that makes millions. The owners of most indie companies are much more caring and provide better customer service than large corporations. That being said…this setting spray has worked better for me than the others. It may not be a miracle worker, but none of these setting sprays are. I think this one prolonged the wear of my makeup better than the other two. It also has less ingredients, including white tea and organic green tea extract. The best part about this spray is the price. You could buy 5 or 6 of this product for every 1 All Nighter or Mist & Fix. You can purchase from MBA on Etsy.

AND THE WINNER IS….

My Beauty Addiction’s Mineral Setting Spray.

These are only 3 setting sprays that I have used. If you have a setting spray that you swear by, leave me comments and let me know. I’m always looking for new and better products to try :)

I liked this blog. I was really curious to see if the urban decay worked well. It’s too much money for me to spend on it if I didn’t like it. :)
