I was expecting the usual pink Birchbox in the mail today and was surprised to see a red box instead.

Birchbox teamed up with Us Weekly for February’s Step and Repeat box. It’s award season and this box is about red-carpet secrets.

My box had a little leak, but it was mostly just on some of the tissue paper and nothing was broken. Mine typically arrive in good condition so I wasn’t really upset about this.

I did have a little laugh when I saw Beauty Protector Protect & Oil in my box. Why you ask? Well, if you follow me on Instagram, 2 weeks ago I posted a photo of all the hair oils I’ve accumulated from Birchbox.

I’d be annoyed about having received so many if I wasn’t currently embarking on a journey towards Bonnie McKee hair. I recently spent 3 hours at the salon and these hair oils have been saving my bleached ends! My hair will be getting bleached again in about 2 weeks and this Protect & Oil smells sooo good! It reminds me of Pink Sugar. It is one of the best smelling hair oils!

While Birchbox has featured a lot of Beauty Protector and Dr. Brandt products in the past year, I usually do enjoy trying out Dr. Brandt products like Pores No More Pore Refiner. This is apparently a celeb favorite that minimizes pores and absorbs oils for a matte finish. I’d like to try this as a primer and see how it compares to products with similar claims.

I know that perfume samples can be disappointing because after a few uses they’re gone and you can go to a department store to sample perfumes. However, I like having these to carry in my purse when I’m on the go. Juicy Couture La La Malibu smells yummy too!

I’ve been disappointed with pretty much EVERY SINGLE polish color Birchbox has ever sent me. They somehow choose my least favorite colors (gold, green, nude.) This month they nailed it with hot pink!

As if Ruby Wing in Kitten Heels wasn’t gorgeous enough, it is also color changing. I’m a sucker for any silly gimmick like this.

The “Lifestyle Extra” for February is more interesting than exciting. From 32 Oral Care these are Effervescent Breath Crystals with IsoVoxy. They are breath-freshing crystals that pop. Minty pop rocks? I guess I’ll have to give them a try instead of throwing them away like I usually do with food and tea from Birchbox.
