Glamour Doll Eyes- Review & Swatches

Glamour Doll Eyes eyeshadows

I recently discovered, Glamour Doll Eyes, an independent cosmetics company. This is my personal opinion on the samples that I purchased.

I discovered Glamour Doll Eyes a couple months ago. I was instantly impressed by the large variety of eyeshadows. I also loved that they offered samples. When buying makeup online from an independent company for the first time, you really don’t know what to expect. Buying samples allows you to try out the product and different colors without spending a lot of money.

I decided to buy samples, which come in 2 different sizes. Baggies for $1.25 or a small jar for $2.50. Glamour Doll Eyes also sells “Eye Lights” which are glitter. You can get an Eye Light sample in a baggie for $1.00 or in a small jar for $1.75.

Another thing I love about this company and their samples is free shipping! Free shipping is for samples and orders over $30. A lot of companies only give free shipping on orders of $50 or $75, so I think this is a very reasonable deal.

I received my order fairly quickly and was sent an e-mail with tracking information. With my order I received an extra 2 samples, which Glamour Doll Eyes sends out with every order. I also got a pamphlet, business cards, and a sticker.

The following pictures show Glamour Doll Eyes packaging.

Sample jars.

I know I didn’t even get to the important part yet, the actual eyeshadow! However, I need to mention that if you purchase a sample size and then decide to buy the full sized version, e-mail GDE first. They will give you a code that subtracts the sample price from your full size purchase. So, if you buy a sample for $2.50 and love it, you can then buy the full size for only $3.50. Personally, I have never bought full-sized jars from GDE because I don’t need to. I’m not a makeup artist and I don’t wear eyeshadow every day, especially not brighter colors. I have yet to use up any of my sample baggies or jars.

Now, onto the eyeshadows…There is no shortage of colors at GDE. They have tons of bright colors as well as a large variety of neutrals. They have eyeshadows with different finishes (matte, shimmer, etc.) They have colors for everyone! I think these eyeshadows go on really well, they aren’t clumpy or chalky. They have good pigmentation. The colors do look more vibrant if you put them over something like NYX Jumbo Pen in Milk. GDE does sell a foiling medium called “Foil Me” which also makes the colors appear more vibrant. Any other foiling medium will work too, I belive “Foil Me” is repackaged.

I actually have a bunch of GDE samples, but didn’t want this post to be any longer so I only did swatches of a few. If you want to ask me about specific colors or want me to do more swatches, leave me comments and I will definitely do so!

The following photos are of the eyeshadows. The ones on the left are over e.l.f  Eyelid Primer. The ones on the right are over NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk.

The colors from top to bottom are Strawberry Cupcake, Pinky Swear, Juicy Mango, Glam Girl, Doll House, and Petticoat.

The next picture is of Eye Lights (glitter.)

The one on the left is Glowstick. The one on the right is Hollywood. I applied these using nothing. You can see they are very glittery, but you definitely need to use a foiling medium.

All the names of GDE products are so cute and they were all named by customers/fans! So, overall how would I grade Glamour Doll Eyes? I really like their eyeshadows. My pictures don’t do them justice.

My favorites colors are probably Strawberry Cupcake, Unicorn, Pinky Swear, My Belle, and Juicy Mango. The unfortunate fact about Strawberry cupcake and some other GDE colors are that they aren’t unique to GDE. I have never recieved this color from any other company, but this is one of the GDE colors that is repackaged. On the website eyeshadows with the * after the name are “unblended” pigments which may be “exact dupes.” This information is stated on the FAQs page.

There is also a $10 minimum for orders, but for $10 you can get quite a few samples and then shipping is free. I do recommend GDE and purchasing their samples. The eyeshadows are all good quality. If you don’t like the idea of repackaging, just purchase colors without the * next to their name.

Thanks for the feedback, Jen! Full-size jars for $3.50 is awesome, one reason I love GDE so much! I was ready to buy Skinny Jeans and Summer Skies the other day, but stopped myself because I need to save money :( I’ve been trying out eyeshadows by a lot of other indie make up companies lately. I found some really great ones, GDE is still at the top of my list though. If you haven’t tried out Strawberry Cupcake yet, I recommend that color and I might have to get a sample of Prankster! I will probably be doing more GDE swatches soon because I have a ton of sample baggies. I will definitely buy Skinny Jeans soon and do a review of that too. If you don’t follow me on Facebook yet, def. do because I’m on there everyday and I’m doing a giveaway when I get 200 ‘Likes.’ :) http://www.facebook.com/skinnyjeanssippycups. Thanks again for leaving me a comment, I love hearing from my readers! xoxo

I LOVE Glamour Doll Eyes! I have about 40 sample jars now, and about a dozen full-size jars (which I got for $3.50 – awesome perk!). I just bought Skinny Jeans and can’t say enough good things about the color. It’s very unique, a “dirty” light blue with an opalescent gold-ish sheen that’s almost indescribable. I hope you’ll do a post after you’ve purchased it and let us all know what you think!
Of the colors you swatched, I have Doll House and Pinky Swear – both lovely colors. I think my favorite color so far is Prankster – probably my favorite color from any company actually. As a blonde with fair skin and blue eyes, that color really emphasizes my skin tone and eyes…it just pops like crazy. I highly recommend it. :) Summer Skies is another favorite of mine. Ok, I’ll stop now…I love them all. Love your blog!
