Grumpy Girl

This is my review on the various products and scents that I purchased from Grumpy Girl Candle and Bath Co. Just a warning this review is picture heavy.

If you have never heard of Grumpy Girl Candle and Bath Co. then I am happy to introduce you to them. I recently purchased various types of products in a lot of different scents, so this is a fairly long post because I wanted to be thorough.

PACKAGING:

My package from Grumpy Girl came in a Priority Mail box. The packaging inside the box was nice, colored tissue paper and colored crinkly paper.

The individual items have nice packaging too. Everything has Grumpy Girl labels with the name of the product and the scent. Most of the products are also labeled with the size and ingredients. The soaps are in little bags with the cute Grumpy Girl stickers sealing them. The scrubs and spray where wrapped and tied with silver twisty-ties.

As with all indie bath and body companies I have purchased from, the labels are not water-proof. Therefore, when taking my scrubs into the shower, I do not take in the lid.

PRODUCTS & PRICES:

I bought 3 soaps, a full-sized scrub, sample size scrub, a little spray, and 6 cranky cups. The soaps are $6 each, the big scrub was $11 for 8.5 oz. and the sample scrub was $6.50 for 3 oz. The Little Squirt Body Spray was $5 and the Cranky Cups, which are like candle tarts for in a warmer/melter, were only $2. I paid for everything with my own money.

If you have never bought from indie bath and body companies then you might think their prices are high, but they’re really not. Pretty much everyone sells soaps for $4 to $7 and scrubs for around $10. $2 for a Cranky Cup is a great price! They are the same price as the Yankee Candle tarts, but Yankee tarts are 0.8 oz. and Cranky Cups are 2 oz. I just bought a new tart warmer and all the Cranky Cups I got smell good. I really love Naughty School Girl and Strawberry Moonshine. I’m going to cut these into 3 or 4 pieces and get hours and hours out of them.

I got a full-sized scrub as well as a sample. They are two different types of scrubs. The 8.5 oz. one is a Foaming Sugar Scrub and the 3.5 oz. one is a Butter-cream scrub (you can choose which type of sample you want.) The Foaming scrub is listed as Vegan, Paraben Free and Propylene Glycol Free.

I’ve used them both and I personally like the Foaming one better. The Butter-cream feels really sugary while the Foaming one feels almost like Play-Doh at first. They are both exfoliating and left my skin soft afterward. The scent even lasted on me for a couple hours after my showers. In the picture below, you can see (I hope)  how the one on the left is almost like putty, while the one on the right is very sugary.

I love love love my Foaming Sugar scrub, but the one thing I purchased from Grumpy Girl that I absolutely love the most, is my spray. Since I love it because of the scent, I will go into more detail in the “SCENTS” section below.

Out of the 3 soaps I purchased, I have only used one so far. I really liked it. It lathers very nicely. It was barely wet and still had lots of lather. It also left my skin feeling clean and didn’t leave any soapy residue. I’m not typically a soap person, but I did like my Bulimic Ballerina soap when I used it. I cut a piece of it off and used it after I took the photo for this post.

With my purchase I also received four soap samples, a thank you note, 10% off discount code, and a funny little Weepul toy that I gave to my son.

SCENTS:

All the Grumpy Girl scents are made into soaps, candles, sprays, sugar scrubs, etc. If you love a scent of theirs, you can get it in everything. I got everything in different scents since it was my first purchase.

Drama Whore is a pretty blue and green swirly soap with a little bit of glitter on top. It’s supposed to be a unisex scent, it’s fresh smelling. I like the scent and so does my boyfriend.

Fierce is the craziest and most amazing looking soap ever! It looks like it has all different colored paints drizzled over it and glitter too! This is a Lush dupe for Honey I Washed the Kids. I like this scent, but I have never smelled the one from Lush. Fierce is described on the website as toffee and honey with hints of orange and a woody musk. I haven’t been able to use this soap yet, its too pretty!

Bulimic Ballerina is a plain looking soap. It has a peach color and scent is described as pink sugar, strawberries, butter-cream frosting, and vanilla sugar cookies. It’s sweet, but not overpowering. I haven’t really smelled a scent like this before.

My Foaming Sugar Scrub is in the scent Girly Girl. It’s a unique scent that I can’t quite put my finger on. It’s sweet and sugary, but floral and very light. It definitely smells girly, so it was appropriately named. The Butter-Cream Sugar Scrub sample I got in Pink Hissy Fit. It’s very sweet and fruity, kind of like grapefruit or watermelon.

My absolute favorite scent from Grumpy Girl and my favorite scent EVER is the scent I got my Lil Squirt Spray in….Hot Tranny Mess! I thought the spray was going to be smaller than it was. The picture below is the size of the Lil Squirt spray compared to a bar of soap.

This scent is DELICIOUS! It’s a sugary HEAVEN!! It’s supposed to be a Lush Rockstar dupe. I’ve never actually smelled Rockstar, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE Hot Tranny Mess. It smells like yummy candy! In a week, I’ve already used half of my little spray, I will definitely be buying it in the bigger size. I will probably buy it in a soap or sugar scrub too. If you can only buy one thing from Grumpy Girl you need something in Hot Tranny Mess. Now that I have smelled this spray, I will probably not be being any other sprays for a very long time. I spray this all over my body and in my hair. If you want to smell like you live in Candy Land then you need Hot Tranny Mess spray!

i’ve watched sharon..the mastermind/developer/owner of grumpy girl candles, build her product line since the beginning. i also worked with her this Christmas as her “consuela”…
the products she offers are made on the premises. each one is created with the science and care and imagination of someone i quite honestly find to be no less than genius.
as you’ve found…i trust… by the products you have indulged in…each one brings delight and a smile to your face.
if you’re ever in a small town on the ky/tn line…franklin, kentucky… go to the square and visit her shop. you’ll laugh your butt off, and walk out with some of the coolest stuff you’ve ever seen:)
btw… if you happened to purchase any of the body scrub this past holiday…i was the “body scrub mixer wench” …lol
~enjoy!

I’m a new user of Grumpy Girl products & wasn’t sure what else to buy besides soaps. I was so indecisive!

After reading your blog on the buttah cream & foaming scrubs, I’ve decided to purchase some of these in my coming order. I love the quirky names given to them & the unique scents as well~ :D

Thanks for the review hun~
