January 2014 Birchbox

BirchboxDefault

This is actually my third January Birchbox and it was better than the 2012 and 2013 boxes. Yay for full-size products to start the new year!

This is actually my third January Birchbox and it was better than the 2012 and 2013 boxes. Not familiar with Birchbox? It’s a monthly-subscription program. You pay $10 and receive about 5 deluxe beauty-related samples.

Harvey Prince Journey

I’m kind of obsessed with perfumes so I don’t mind getting samples as long as they smell good. These sample sizes are nice for carrying around in my makeup bag inside my purse. This Harvey Prince fragrance is called Journey. The scent has notes of Indian tuberose and Japanese orange flower. I prefer sweeter/fruiter fragrances, but this isn’t too bad.

Inika Eyeshadow

I was excited to receive this Inika Mineral Eyeshadow because it’s a full-sized product worth $20. This mineral eyeshadow is made in Australia, 100% vegan and cruelty free.

Inika Eternal Marine

I received the color Eternal Marine which is one of Inika’s 3 best selling eyeshadows. It is a shimmery bluey/green shade that suits every eye color.

NailRock Manicure

This Nail Rock manicure set is also full-sized and worth $6.99. (Way to go Birchbox!) From what I see on Instagram, subscribers received various Nail Rock products including velvet, glitter and sequins.

NailRock Velvet

I received the Navy Velvet product. I haven’t jumped on board with the textured manicure trend yet and I’m not sure how I feel about velvet. I do like this navy polish, so I might use it and just do one accent nail with the velvet finish. I can’t see doing this to all of my nails because you have to apply 2 coats of polish, dip nails into the velvet dust and let them dry for 20 minutes.

Serge Normant DryConditioner

I use dry shampoo, but I didn’t know dry conditioner existed. This Serge Normant Dry Conditioner adds softness and shine to hair as a follow-up to dry shampoo. I’m definitely going to give this product a try.

BurtsBees DayLotion

I’ve used Burt’s Bees lip balm, but wasn’t really aware of their skincare line. I received Burt’s Bees Intense Hydration Day Lotion in this box. It’s a 99% natural moisturizer. It smells fresh and feels very light on the skin. This decent sized sample also came with a $3 off coupon.

Birchbox cards

As an extra, my January Birchbox contained these “pin-able” cards that you can frame and use as inspiration.

Pinable cards

This box was worth the $10 I paid for it and I hope Birchbox continues in this direction for the rest of the new year.
