This month’s Birchbox was a little different. They had designer Cynthia Rowley guest curate the July box. It came in the typical pink box, but there were some packaging differences including a box cover and blue tissue paper.

This is the third Birchbox I have gotten. My first two months I received a full-sized item in each box. This month everything was sample size. July’s box had no makeup and the “extra” was a fruit and nut bar.

The items I received are as follows:

1. Philosophy-Purity made simple one-step facial cleanser

2. Nuxe- Huile Prodigieuse Multi-use Dry Oil

3. Redken- Shine Flash 02

4. Zoya- Touch Collection Nail Polish in Pandora

5. Kind- Almond & Apricot bar

I have yet to use any of these products, so I can’t really review them. I am usually super excited to try the products out, but I’m a little disappointed this month. I really liked last month’s Birchbox with the full-size Laura Geller blush worth $30. I love that blush and have been using it everyday.

I will definitely use the philosophy cleanser, that was the highlight of the July box for me. I might use the Redken Shine Flash too. I guess the dry oil might be nice, but I have never used dry oil before. When I use it I will probably use it in my hair for flyaways and frizz, I’m not sure if I will like it though. I’m sure a lot of people are thrilled with the Zoya nail polish, but I’m not a fan of nude/neutral nail polish. I like bright colors and pinks. The fruit and nut bar, I will not eat. I do not like almonds or apricots, so this item is a total waste.

I’m not thrilled with the July box, but I did like my previous two. I probably won’t keep my Birchbox subscription forever, but I will continue with it for now. Hopefully, next month is back to the good stuff!
