Here we go again, Birchbox time. After two fairly decent boxes in a row, this month is kind of disappointing. Did you get the same box as me?

After two fairly decent boxes in a row, Birchbox had to go and mess it up. The theme of this month was interesting, Beauty Diaries. Beauty-tell-all, a Birchbox all about you. The idea surrounding by a fun marketing concept of tweeting @birchbox for a chance to win full-size versions of everything in this month’s box. Too bad I don’t even want the sample-size products in this box.

Here are the samples I received for May…

This is probably the only thing in this box that I liked right off the bat. It’s an Amika Obliphica Nourishing Mask that boosts shine and helps repair split ends. I can always use product that helps with split ends.

This Coola Classic Face SPF 30 Cucumber Moisturizer for Face is a mineral sunblock infused with organic anti aging ingredients.

I’m pretty sure this is the second time I’ve received toothpaste in a Birchbox. Marvis Toothpaste is an Italian import and I’ll use it, but who cares. It only sells for $6-10.50, so I don’t think it’s any better than drugstore toothpaste. I’d much rather a cosmetics or perfume sample.

While I wasn’t originally excited when I saw this, I ended up really liking it. This Sumita Color Contrast Eyeliner glides on super velvety smooth and doesn’t smudge. I swatched this on my hand, rubbed it with my finger and still had a perfect line. I imagine this would last all day and I might consider purchasing it. I received a black liner. A set of 4 mini pencils sells for $21.

Runa Guyusa Tea was this month’s Lifestyle Extra. I’m not a tea drinker. I don’t like hot tea or iced tea. So, I will definitely be giving this sample away.

May’s Birchbox isn’t the worst. However, I definitely liked the past couple of months better than this one though.
