I signed up for MyGlam’s Glam bag back in December. Last week, I received my first bag, the January one.

This is a program similar to Birchbox, you pay $10 a month and get beauty samples sent to your door. Instead of a box, you get a makeup bag each month. I believe December was the first month that bags were sent out. They contained all cosmetics, including a full-size Urban Decay eyeshadow. Everyone was raving about the Glam bags, so I signed up when subscriptions were opened.

I’ve been set on cancelling Birchbox, but honestly I’m not sure now. I was excited to get my Glam bag until, before the bags shipped out, on the company’s website and Facebook page they showed everything that would be in the bags. As a member of multiple makeup and blogger groups, it was hard to avoid seeing posts about the contents of the bag. I like that BB is always a surprise for me, MyGlam kind of took all the excitement and surprise out of it.

Saturday the 14th, I received an e-mail with a tracking number for my Glam bag only to receive an e-mail on Monday saying they had shipping issues. My bag was just being shipped on Monday and I wouldn’t have a working tracking number, the e-mail explained. Some people received multiple bags and were asked to send them back, while others still have yet to a receive bag. I received a Glam Bag on Saturday the 21st, without missing items, and luckily everything was sealed.

My Glam Bag came in a cute metallic pink bubble envelope. Inside there were cards from each brand which provide more information and coupon codes.

Okay, onto the actual Glam bag, here’s what I got…

Like Birchbox there was a theme. The bag was “green” and said “Back to Nature.” (I’m not sure how “green” and eco-friendly the products actually are.) Also, just like Birchbox the one card states what the items are and how much they cost. Three of the four items I received were actually full-size.

The eyeshadow is pretty big and worth $16. However, I received the color Shameless Shana which is a neutral and considering I just bought Urban Decay’s Naked Palette I don’t know that I’ll use it often. I also don’t love the packaging, naked lady silhouette?  Kind of looks cheap, but the packaging is The Balm’s problem not MyGlam’s.

The Sheer Cover Duo Concealer I received will be included as a prize in my 500 Facebook Likes Giveaway, which will happen soon! I am in love and loyal to Benefit’s concealers, plus my skin is too fair to use the one shade. Instead of wasting half, I’d rather just give it away.

Overall Thoughts:

Is it worth the $10?? Yes, the products in my January bag were worth at least $50.

Did I LOVE the products?? No, I am totally not excited about them and haven’t even used them.

Is MyGlam better than Birchbox?? Ehh, I know there is a lot of Birchbox hating going on and I admit to saying I was going to cancel. I am sick of perfume samples and food samples! However, going off of this one bag, if I had to choose only one…I’d choose Birchbox.

This was only my first bag though, so I am not cancelling. I have high hopes for next month, hopefully MyGlam won’t let me down!

What are your thoughts on MyGlam???

Should I cancel my Birchbox subscription??
