Along with this review, I will show you three different color combinations that I experimented with. The color combos are actually one reason why I’m liking the whole crackle/shatter nail polish trend. Sometimes its hard to choose just one nail polish color and now you can choose two.

The second reason I love this trend is actually the main reason for me purchasing the Sally Hansen Crackle Overcoat. This nail polish will cover and hide a manicure that is in desperate need of being filled. Yes, this may sound silly or lazy, but whatever. If your nails need to be filled and you don’t have time or money this is a quick fix.

I purchased the Sally Hansen Crackle Overcoat at CVS. There wasn’t a price marked on it, but I figured it couldn’t be that much and got it along with various other things.  It’s about $7 or $8. Depending on what you normally spend that may be reasonable or it may be pricey. Some nail polishes at CVS are $1, however the OPI Shatter nail polishes are around $8 or $9. I was disappointed by the price of the Sally Hansen Crackle  and wish it was a couple dollars cheaper, but I guess it costs more to make nail polish that crackles.

This nail polish, definitely does what it’s supposed to. As soon as you put it on you can see it start to separate and crackle. I wouldn’t recommend putting too much on. I just did one thin layer of the crackle overcoat. I wasn’t even thorough in making sure it was all even and nice. I’m not that great at doing nail polish so I love that this doesn’t have to be put on perfect.

I haven’t yet tried an OPI shatter so I can’t compare the two. The only Sally Hansen one I’ve tried is Fuchsia Shock, there are 8 shades all together. I pretty much only do my nails pink and I thought the pink would go with the most colors unless you get a white, black, or silver crackle overcoat which would go with everything.

The following pictures are three different looks I tried with my Sally Hansen Crackle Overcoat in Fuchsia Shock. For each look I used 2 coats of the base color, one coat of the crackle, and then a clear top coat for extra shine and protection. All the pictures were taken with a flash so the pink looks a little brighter than it does in person. It’s definitely a bright pink, but a little darker than pictured.

I think my favorite is the pink over the silver. This was the first look I tried and I really liked it.

This was my Pink Lemonade inspired nail look, but it was a failure. The yellow nail polish I used was too shimmery and looked more gold than yellow. I think this would look really cute with the right yellow.

I really like this combination too because I’m obsessed with the colors pink and blue together.

Overall, I think this nail polish is cool. I really want to try the OPI Turquoise Shatter.

hmm, that’s strange. Mine definitely crackles and doesn’t just look smudged. Try the OPI shatter nail polishes.

I was going to buy the Sally Hansen Crackle nail polish at CVS the other day, but when I tested it on a finger it looked really weird. I thought it looked like I just smudged nail polish around my finger. I wanted it a lot after first hearing about it, but not so much after the test in CVS.
