urban decay book

Imagine my excitment that one of my favorite cosmetics companies shares my love for NYC. I snatched up this palette as soon as I saw it. It's the coolest designed palette I've ever seen. Read more for swatches too!

If you know me then you know I am in love with New York City. I love taking trips to Manhattan. All the architecture,  noises, strolling in Central Park, what’s not to love?  Imagine my excitement that one of my favorite cosmetics companies shares and understands love for NYC. So, it literally took me a total of 2 seconds to grab Urban Decay’s Book of Shadows Vol. III Redux when I saw it at Ulta.

Book of Shadows III

The top/front of the palette caught my eye with the pink and cool NYC photographs.

NYC pop ups

This is by far the coolest palette I’ve ever seen. Not only does it have a mirror, but it lights up AND has pop-up NYC scenery like a yellow taxi, Statue of Liberty, and Empire State Building. This design to so unique and was a surprise when I opened it for the very first time.

eyeshadow palette

The palette itself consists of 16 eyeshadows, a small 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in ‘Zero,’ and small sample-size Primer Potion. With all that I definitely think this palette is more than worth the price of $39.  An individual Urban Decay eyeshadow costs $18, so this palette is actually a steal.

NYC palette

For some reason there are 2 versions of this palette. One came with 2 eye liners, the version I have is the “redux” and only came with one.

And of course, you want to see swatches…

Swatches 1

Oil Slick, Uzi, Stray Dog, Mildew.

Swatches 2
Midnight Cowboy Rides Again, SWF, Last Call, Rockstar.

Swatches 3

Haight, Maui Wowie, Aquarius, Smog.

Swatches 4

Goddess, Sin, YDK, Ecstasy.

As I’ve said earlier and in other reviews, I love Urban Decay eyeshadows. They’re long lasting and don’t crease if you use primer. They are always my first choice and I wear Urban Decay pretty much every day.

As with any palette, there’s some colors that I tend to not use. With the Urban Decay Book of Shadows III Redux I’m don’t really like Haight or Goddess, blues don’t look good on me. Sin is my all time favorite color. In this NYC inspired palette, I also love SWF and Ecstasy. Not liking a couple colors wouldn’t stop me from purchasing this palette since purchasing them all separately would cost a fortune.

This review is a overdue, so I’m not sure if this palette is still available. You may be able to find it online. However, if you can’t find it Urban Decay is always coming out with new and better palettes.

Do you have this palette? What’s your favorite color?
