I've been using Maybelline's newest Color Sensational product for a few weeks now. See what I think about the 3-in-1 claims of this product.

Maybelline is my favorite drug store brand and as I write this review the ad for this product keeps coming on every single commercial break! Maybelline recently released Color Elixir Lip Color as part of their Color Sensational collection. Color Elixir is supposed to deliver the color of a lipstick, the cushiony care of a balm, and the glass shine of a gloss.

Maybelline Elixir

Color Elixir is available in 20 different shades. I bought two a few weeks ago to try out. I have so many pink and red lip products so I decided to buy colors that were a little different for me.

The Elixir

I like the Color Elixir packaging because it’s very clean and you see what you’re getting. Some of Maybelline’s lip products, like Vivids, look cheap. I’m a believer that even affordable drug store cosmetics should look pretty! I’m always a fan of being able to see the color of the actual product versus having to go by a little sticker on the bottom.

Color Elixir Caramel

Caramel Infused is a neutral pinky color.

Color Elixir Violet

Vision in Violet is, well, a bold violet.

Color Elixir Swatches

Color Elixir lip colors definitely meet their claims of very pigmented color and high shine which makes me really like them. They also glide on smoothly. I suppose they have the benefits of balm because they’re certainly not drying. However, these are much thicker than a lip balm. They aren’t necessarily sticky, but you can feel the product on your lips.

These don’t cause my lips to cling to each other, they just feel kind of heavy.  This really is the only negative I have about the Color Elixir lip colors and it’s not enough to make me stray from them. If you read my Favorite Products of 2013 post then you already know I actually love Vision in Violet. It’s such a fun, bold color and a little product goes a long way. If you follow me on Instagram Instagram, then you’ve seen me wearing this in a few #selfies.

I’d actually like to try a couple of the other Color Elixir shades like Caviar Couture. These sell for around $7.99 USD and are available at drug stores, Target, Ulta, and anywhere that carries Maybelline.
