You wanted more drug store reviews, so here you go! I decided to try out the colored mascara trend in an affordable way.

Colored mascara has been a bold trend throughout the Spring and Summer months. When Maybelline recently released a Limited Edition collection I decided I’d try out the colored mascara trend in an affordable way.

Colored Mascara Celebs

Even celebs have tried this trend. Above you can see Maria Menounos and Rihanna rocked blue mascara while Lea Michele wore a subtle purple.

There are 6 different Limited Edition Great Lash colors. I decided to purchase 3. I bought purple, pink, and green. The other 3 colors available are berry, teal, and blue.

VisionInViolet

Like Lea Michele I thought purple mascara would look really good so I bought Vision in Violet. I have brown eyes and always love how purple eyeliner looks on me.

PurpleMascara

Unfortunately, Vision in Violet was disappointing. It barely looks purple on my lashes. It actually just looks like a brown or black mascara. The only reason I got it to look purple at all, was by pairing it with my purple eyeliner from Lime Crime. Maybe this color would work on someone with very light eye lashes, but I would not recommend purchasing this.

WinkOfPink

I have never used a pink mascara before, but it’s my favorite color so I had to buy Wink Of Pink.

PinkMascara1

This pink mascara from Maybelline is not subtle. Wink Of Pink shows up even on dark lashes like mine. My only concern with this color is that it can make you look sickly. Since it gave me a sick appearance on a naked eye, I thought maybe it would look better with a completely bold look.

I used my Sugarpill palettes to create this bright sunset look and used Wink of Pink on my lashes and eyebrows.

GreenWithEnvy

I have never used green mascara either, so why not! Green with Envy’s color is pretty true to the packaging.

GreenMascara

While this green mascara shows up better than the purple, I was still disappointed. It really didn’t do anything for me. I could really only see wearing Green With Envy for St. Patrick’s Day festivities. I wish this was more of a neon green than emerald.

Other Colors: While I didn’t try the other 3 colors I have seen some reviews. So Very Berry is almost brown and barely shows, the same results as Vision in Voilet. Teal Appeal looks pretty, but not that bright. I imagine it is more subtle like Green with Envy. I See Blue looks like it’s pretty bold and most similar to Wink of Pink. I think this color would be the most flattering and give you a look like Rihanna or Maria Menounos.

Overall Thoughts: Maybelline Great Lash colors are not worth the $5.49 I paid for them. The only ones worth buying for anyone are Wink of Pink and I See Blue, but it takes a certain overall makeup look to rock the pink. I doubt anyone would ever get more than a couple wears out of these mascaras which leaves a whole wasted tube.

If you know of a different brand of colored mascara that provides better results, share below!!

Hey, love the swatches!
I am addicted to colored mascara and know a few other makes. I have them in pink (Janet, you can find it on ebay), blue (Vult, Brazilian drugstore make), purple (Essencial, same thing) and green (Eudora Soul).
I have light eyelashes.
